Introducing Caroline Butler...
Hello all! Originally starting my career at ITV, it didn't take much encouragement for me to hop on board Flying Saucer when it was formed 13 years ago. Over time I've seen the company grow and evolve, I've formed bonds with clients and suppliers and enjoyed all the challenges and wacky adventures along the way.
My roles are that of Copywriter and Social Media Manager. As Copywriter I help create marketing campaigns and adverts, write content for publications, radio scripts, billboards, blogs and websites. Along with anything else in between! A large majority of my time is spent researching clients' products and services in order to produce accurate, appropriate and attention-grabbing text.
A lot of my day is spent hopping from network to network in my role as Social Media Manager (or Social Media Strategist) for ten clients. I define strategies to build and enhance followers and likes, developing all channels that strengthen engagement. In coordination with our clients and Account Managers, I develop promotions, events, competitions and news stories in order to implement them on various platforms. Always working towards social media KPIs and ROI objectives, I relish the opportunities I have to engage with our clients' customers and increase awareness and footfall/business. And, of course, the odd picture and video of a comedy cat or dippy dog never goes amiss.
I'm a huge advocate of social media, from both a business and personal perspective and often wax lyrical about its benefits. At the end of 2014, more than 1.8 billion internet users had accessed social networks and, despite the ubiquity of them, market potential is still increasing as user figures and user engagement continue to grow. If you haven't yet jumped on the band wagon, you're missing out!
When I'm not producing prose, frantically Facebooking or happily hashtagging, I can be found in my kitchen baking! My desire to make chomp-worthy cakes and glutton-tastic gateaux, resulted in me setting up Caked a year ago. Check out my website www.cakeduk.com to see a selection of home-caked iced gems.
I'm also a keen swimmer and swim half a mile at least four times a week. Coined by many I know as ‘The Little Mermaid’, I feel at my happiest in my gym's swimming pool. I even undertook a swimathon a couple of years ago when I swam 29 miles in a month and raised over £1,000 for the Depression Alliance. To read more visit: http://www.justgiving.com/carolinebutler
Other hobbies include crazy golf (Pirates Cove in Yarmouth is my pitch and putt of choice), board games and coffee quaffing. Starbucks is my Achilles heel, so if you're ever passing a branch in Norwich, look out for the girl with the fringe, fervently typing on her laptop and clutching a caramel latte. I can't promise, but it's more than likely me.
